Re-directing

I almost came back to this blog, full swing. But I've realised it is easier and more convenient for me to power my blog through tumblr, which you can now access through my official website, instead of using this.

I appreciate all the love and the views. I hope to see you all soon aboard the tumblr-train.

The War of Art

A part of myself every day wishes I'd started taking photography seriously, a lot sooner. Or at least, wished that I'd actually given it a bit of a go. Years of self-doubt held me down underwater, I was drowning in my own criticism. Almost any artist, any real artist, someone with a thoughtful, artistic mind, can relate to this. It is only when you finally manage to pull yourself up, dry yourself off, and start working- that you start to create something that is special to you.

A friend once said to me, and has said to me multiple times- 'Shoot what you want, and the right work will come to you.'

So yesterday I did just that.

PS. Anyone who has ever been drowning, I implore you to seek out Steven Pressfield's 'The War of Art'

“Are you paralyzed with fear? That’s a good sign. Fear is good. Like self-doubt, fear is an indicator. Fear tells us what we have to do. Remember one rule of thumb: the more scared we are of a work or calling, the more sure we can be that we have to do it.” ~ Steven Pressfield

Revival of the blog.

So, hi again.

After almost a year of not touching my blog, after two years of picking up and putting my camera down, filled with doubts and insecurities, I'm now in it for the long haul. Never again will you see me letting my camera collect dust. So with that, I've decided to link my website up to my blog and get this going again, for all the images that are beautiful, but don't get published.

My mac has an overload of images that I've taken over the past few months that a lot of people haven't seen, because I've not had them published in magazines, or I haven't bothered to try because I want them to be strictly my personal work.

The set I'm posting today is of the lovely Jessica Page. Jess is an ex-agency model who fell in love with the art of tattoos, and now she looks crazy beautiful covered in black and red artwork. We got together on a beautiful afternoon at my friends Jarrad and Caitlin's house, and shot in the rose gardens nearby their house. Such a relaxing day to shoot, Jess said she's so used to having multiple stylists surrounding her in a studio that having just her and myself outside shooting was a good change.

Model: Jessica Page
Makeup/Hair: Amy Brady

I'm currently holding a giveaway on my facebook page for some people to win limited edition prints of four beautiful tattooed models, three of my favourite images I've taken over the this year (and one old photograph but still one of my favourites!) Head over to my page to see what that's about, i'll even throw in a cute personal message with the prints.

Here's also a photo of our friend from that day, her name is Bella..

Pretty young things.

I have started do shoot more commissioned shoots recently- for more than one reason. Although this is sometimes hard being the christmas season- i've managed to squeeze in this photo shoot with a friends' sister, Imogen. She's such a young girl and I wanted some simple portraits to show that off.

I've been really excited for the next couple of weeks- been receiving secret packages in the mail for some upcoming photo shoots- I can't wait to put these resources to use! Everyone have a merry christmas. X

Natural

I have recently been communicating a lot with Ana Zarac, who's doing a couple of photo shoots with a friend of mine, Laurence Davis. Ana's look is completely natural and we arranged to work on some photos together- we seemed to be very much on the same wavelength, and love each others' work. Ana has such a striking look, and I think we can both agree we'd love to work more together in the future.

If you'd like to contact Ana about taking some photographs, you can always get a hold of her via facebok:  here.

More social snaps

A few happy snaps from the weekend as we bid Ella farewell and wish her luck on her job search. I know these photos look extremely digital, but at the same time they're fun and I like playing with the colours. It was good to once again catch up with old and new friends. One thing i'm a bit confused on- the watermarking on these photos are terrible. Still trying to figure out why some of them are out of place... luckily for these photos it doesn't really matter.

Ella and Paige

Yesterday afternoon I photographed Paige Silvi and Ella Formby in a dead field that I've been wanting to shoot at for so long, right near my home. They and our "sun girl" were very co-operative. I had a blast taking these photos, and just as much fun experimenting with them colour wise. I also tried to steer away from vignetting, I find myself getting into the habit of vignetting everything even when it looks better without.
